Does the land you want to buy have a road access?

By Joseph Kimbowa

I have a friend whose new-year resolution was to start building a residential house on a plot he bought two years ago somewhere in Wakiso. He swiftly contracted a construction company and instructed them to start delivering building materials necessary for the initial phases.

They first took bricks to the site. But when they sent another truck to deliver sand, they were shocked to find huge logs in the middle of what was supposed to be the road leading to his plot.

Buganda Moves To Modernize Kasanje Gombolola Land

While touring the county of Bugerere in 2014, the Kabaka of Buganda called for the development, re-development and modernization of all Ssaza and Gombolola land. The said land had just been returned to Buganda Kingdom in 2013 after an agreement between Buganda and central government. This land had been confiscated in 1966 by the Milton Obote government who subsequently abolished kingdoms a year later.

Therefore, the Kabaka argued that ‘Kingdom land cannot be left undeveloped’.

Why rentals are a great way to invest money in Uganda.

By Livingstone Mukasa

If you are still trying to multiply your money, stay away from rentals. But if you're starting to generate excess cash flow, I want you to seriously consider investing in rentals. Here are the 5 key areas to consider:

1. Location.

A good rental investment starts with a good investment in land. Buy land near a solid economic base & good transport infrastructure and social services. Buy land that is likely to appreciate in the future. Goof up on this & nothing will save you.
