Buganda Land Board Managing Director, Mr.Kyewalabye Male has directed the Legal Department to open up a court case against the late Mugunga’s heir,John Mugunga for forgery.
The directive was aired during his address to the Kabaka’s chiefs in a meeting convened by Mawogola county chief, Muteesa Nsamba Kabajjo at Sembabule recently. The meeting was attended by the BLB Heads of Departments, including; the Head of Survey and Physical Planning, Mr.Kizito Bashir, the Head Legal Services, Mr.Ndawula Barnabas, the Head of Operations, Mr.Kabogoza Simon and the head Corporate Affairs, Mrs Margaret Sserunjogi.
The M.D’s directive follows reports of Mugunga's attempts to grab the Kingdom land in Mateete- Mawogola County on which the subcounty headquarters exist.
According to Muteesa Nsamba Kabajjo, the late Mugunga who owned the land in question agreed to exchange it with Buganda Kingdom and was compensated with 49 acres of land in Mijwala. The Kingdom has since established its headquarters (embuga) at Mateete where John Mugunga claims ownership and has started selling off plots.
Sources in Mawogola indicated that John Mugunga obtained a lease title for Mijwala land (compensated land) and demarcated plots which he has sold off.
Omuk. Kyewalabye noted that the lease title in question is null and void and should be cancelled since it was issued after the government had returned the Kingdom land in Mawogola. He added that Mugunga’s action amounts to forgery and hence called for a legal action against him in courts of law.
During this meeting Mr. Male urged Kabaka's chiefs present to prepare themselves for the forthcoming busuulu exercise which he said will be conducted according to the law. The meeting was also attended by; Sembabule CAO-Mr.Bimbona Simon who promised to ensure that no more lease titles are issued on the Kingdom land by the District Land Board and the Ssemabule Grade I magistrate, Ajuna Doreen .
