What is KYAPA MUNGALO?
This is a campaign by Buganda Land Board meant to make it easier for those who have always wished to get leases on land managed by Buganda Land Board but were always hindered by costs and red tape to get them.
WHAT YOU SHOULD KNOW ABOUT KYAPA MUNGALO.
1.It is optional.Only those interested in elevating themselves from being bibanja holders to title holders and add value to their land are invited to respond to the Kyapa Mungalo call.
2.The promotional campaign has already started and will last 6 months.
3.During the 6 month period of Kyapa Mungalo, premium costs of getting a 49year lease will be cut by 70%.
4.The lease agreement contains an automatic renewal clause of the lease after the expiry of 49 years. One can also decide to remain as a kibanja holder if their lease expires and they are unable to renew.
5.Kyapa Mungalo does not phase out kibanja holding. Those wishing to stay as kibanja holders can do so but must regularly pay their Busuulu as prescribed by the law and the minister.
