Leaders and Kabaka’s chiefs in areas of Ttega, Kiyanja and Nakasozi within Nabbingo have welcomed Buganda Land Board’s intervention in their land struggles against the Ssembizi family.
The Ssembizzi family, masquerading as owners of the land which is on blocks 333 and 334 has been demanding dues from people of Nabbingo who are seated on it as bibanja owners, though the land is part of the 350sqmls estate of the Kabaka of Buganda.
Agnes Ssenoga, a representative of Kyengera on the area council told a meeting which gathered to address the issue that the Sembizzi family has been harassing, coercing people in the area to pay to them money for living on the land and that only the Kabaka could tell them to stop making claims over the land but not Buganda Land Board.
Residents listening attentively to Mr.Gambobbi.
However, Mr.Gambobbi, the sensitization officer from Buganda Land Board who addressed the meeting on behalf of Buganda Land Board assured residents that Buganda Land Board had every right over the land since it is an agent of the Kabaka and the land is part of Kabaka’s official estate. He further advised residents to register their bibanja with Buganda Land Board, pay Busuulu and or get land titles to secure their tenancy to ward off scavengers like the Ssembizzi family.
Residents agreed with Mr.Gambobbi’s submission and thanked Buganda Land Board for intervening in pledged to register their bibanja with Buganda Land Board.
